Beautiful, bright and cheery destination wedding in Key Largo, Florida. Lexi & Clayton choose a relaxed Tommy Bahama theme for their reception and  included hand made tropical motifs of coconuts, pineapples and palm tree leaves to adorn their reception.

Q: Tell us about your wedding! What was the inspiration behind your day? Did you have a specific theme, style or color palette? Did you incorporate any cultural or religious traditions in any part of your day?

A: I have always adored the ocean, so choosing a destination wedding and getting married on the beach was a dream come true. Exchanging vows by the ocean was significant for Clayton as well–he was born and raised in Florida, and since now we live in Atlanta, being close to the water brought a little piece of home to him. One thing that I always knew is that I wanted the bridesmaids to be in pink and the groomsmen in blue. To me it signifies femininity, and masculinity and I thought it was perfectly appropriate for the occasion. My family is fully Bulgarian, since most of them flew in from Bulgaria, and since it is my heritage, I wanted to incorporate a few traditions. Right after the officiant announced us as husband and wife, tradition says that the bride has to kick a small mule mug filled with water. It signifies that going forward everything will go smoothly as water for the newlyweds. The other tradition that I decided to be of significance, is the breaking of the bread before dinner. My grandmother baked a loaf of bread from scratch, and Clayton and I had to fight for the biggest piece. Whoever won, would be the breadwinner in the family. Of course, I won by a landslide.
